The Outdoor Channel provides quality programming to educate and entertain traditional sportsmen of all ages. This market leader understands how important it is to stay in the forefront in all areas – technical capability, broadcast content, and image. The channel selected TI Broadcast Solutions Group as its partner in designing and building a new broadcast operations center to enhance its ability to deliver programming.
Working with The Outdoor Channel, TI Broadcast Solutions Group provided design, build, and integration services for the new facility, which includes eight non-linear bays, a media operations center, a master control room, and a central equipment room. Redundancy at all levels of the system’s infrastructure protects The Outdoor Channel from outages in the event of equipment failures, ensuring that the channel’s viewers will not miss their favorite shows.
The new center, completed in 2006, facilitates broadcast of east and west standard definition (SD) feeds and a new HD channel, The Outdoor Channel 2. Taking advantage of its new capabilities, the channel has now migrated from a tape-based environment to a much more efficient architecture that uses a combination of on-line and near-line storage. With the center fully operational, The Outdoor Channel has the capabilities it needs to deliver more of the programming its subscribers want now, and the flexibility to grow and evolve.
