TV Azteca is one of the two largest producers of Spanish language television programming in the world, operating two national television networks, Azteca 13 and Azteca 7, through 315 owned and operated stations across Mexico. TV Azteca affiliates include Azteca America Network, the fastest growing television network in the United States; and Todito.com, an Internet portal for North American Spanish speakers. TV Azteca also operates Azteca Internacional that reaches 13 countries in Central and South America.
TI Broadcast Solutions Group’s charge was to provide TV Azteca with an HDTV platform on which to build their facilities for the next fifteen years. The first phase of this project was to design and build a fully functioning HDTV in time for the start of World Cup 2006. This phase of the projects was completed by the target date despite a very short timeframe.
The second phase was to develop and implement multiple HDTV master control facilities. Each master control room has Dolby 5.1 audio with remote control to listen to PGM streams on- and off-air with the touch of a button. All PGM signals can be seen pre-distribution, post-on air and off- air. The master control rooms connect with the central router room and existing standard definition systems. Forty TX and RX fiber paths to six studios on TV Azteca properties allow TV Azteca to perform on-air tasks and cut to one or all six studios live.
